  • Understand the nature, prevalence, and gendered patterns of violence against children (VAC). 
  • Explain the links between gender inequality and VAC. 
  • Distinguish between VAC prevention and response programmes. 
  • Describe how to apply VAC prevention principles to child-centred interventions. 
  • Identify risk and protective factors of VAC using the socio-ecological model.
  • Identify how prevention strategies can address the specific risk and protective factors at different levels of the socio-ecological model. 
  • Use practical tools to apply course learning to design the building blocks of effective VAC prevention programming.

Who is this course for?

This course is designed for programme practitioners, managers, and technical leads who are involved in designing and implementing VAC programmes and want to learn about approaches to VAC prevention.

What are the requirements to join?

To make the most of the Violence Against Children Prevention Essentials Course, we strongly encourage learners to meet the following requirements: 

  • Have basic working knowledge and experience on how to address violence against children (such as within child protection, response services, and prevention programmes) 
  • Have a functional laptop/mobile phone and access to stable internet 
  • Be proficient in English
  • Be able to complete all sessions and quizzes
