Violence Prevention Academy
Connect. Learn. Grow.
Join other practitioners who are learning about violence prevention!
Violence Prevention Academy
We are offering our Learning Lab community a free hybrid online learning experience that combines self-paced courses with live virtual sessions facilitated by Prevention Collaborative’s Capacity Strengthening team.
This is your chance to:
- Ask our facilitators questions about the content in our self-paced courses.
- Share your experiences of applying learnings to your work with other practitioners.
The Academy allows you to exchange knowledge through four interactive sessions and three self-paced courses.

Which Self-Paced CourseS ARE INCLUDED?
In the weeks in between facilitated sessions, you will have time to complete the self-paced courses. Designed to build upon each other, these courses provide you with the knowledge and tools to plan and implement your violence prevention programmes on an evidence-based foundation.
- Start with either Prevention Essentials Refresher: The Latest on What, Why & How or Violence Against Children: Prevention Essentials: Uncover the magnitude, patterns, and latest thinking in violence prevention, and gain a deeper understanding of the causes of VAW or VAC and improve your prevention efforts.
- Working at the Intersections of Violence Against Women and Violence Against Children: Addressing violence in the home requires a solid understanding of the intersections of VAW and VAC. This course offers programme examples that have effectively reduced both VAW and VAC.
- Transforming Gender Norms for Violence Prevention: The What, Why, and How: Explore how social norms perpetuate violence and ways to shift them. This course provides examples of successful strategies addressing harmful gender norms and discusses how to manage backlash.
