Violence prevention is important in Mercy’s community because it is affecting them in many ways, which include psychologically, emotionally, economically, and also affecting development in the community. Also, prevention will dismantle the culture of violence acceptance in the community. Also, in the long term, prevention will also help the children who are witnessing violence in the family to change their perceptions and attitudes so that they do not become perpetrators in the future. The prevention will also help the community to unlearn what they perceived as normal in how women and girls should be treated. Lastly, prevention programs will also create alliances with other stakeholders to ensure they hold each other accountable and facilitate meaningful change in the community.
