      In order to prevent violence, I proposed to senzitize either couples, men and boys, the whole community on VAW, its causes, its conciquences on the welbeing of the whole community. This is a universal prevention as no one is excluded. We have to include every one to prevent violence against women and girls.

        I have already learned many things on Mercy’s history. I got to know different types of violence like sexual,physical,émotionnel and economic ones. Mercy undergone or heard about all these types of violence. She assisted on physical violence upon her mother during her childhood. When married and get maltreated by her husband, she thought it was fair and normal for all women.
        I also got to know that intimate partner violence leads among VAW.The most important I learned in Mercy’s history is that It’s better to prevent, rather than to treat.

          Hello Colleagues, my name is Edouard MANIRAKOZE, an Imam comitted to the promotion of muslim women’s rights and other women and girls as highlighted in Quran.
          I live in Bujumbura, capital of Burundi, an east african country.
          By following this course, i hope to gain more strategies to promote gender and prevent violence against women and girls. This is what Imams are supposed to do even if it is not always done.
