Hi Safiya and Evangeline, thanks for sharing your reflections and experience of M&E.
Do you have any examples to share with the group of where participatory M&E methods led to learning and informed programming decisions, Safiya?
Evangeline, it sounds like a frustrating experience, and possibly shared by many across different contexts. Which country are you referring to?
As we mentioned in Session 4, as part of our Investing Wisely initiative, we are documenting the experiences of practitioners and the challenges that they face when implementing donor-funded projects on the prevention of VAW or VAC. We plan to use our findings to advocate with funders for better policies and processes. Please take the survey here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/TH27K53
ONLY IF YOU ARE IN KENYA: we have a specific version of the survey for those working in Kenya, as our partners are planning an advocacy initiative. The KENYA version is here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/FBSMHVC
Great observation and summary, Safiya! Thank you for sharing.
What are some others’ thoughts on session 3? Did doing the take-home exercise bring up any questions or reflections?
Hi Safiya, this is a great point, we totally agree! Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Hi Mada, this is a great question! The key goal of formative research is to have the information about the context that you need to design and implement the programme. If the partners are well-positioned and have the capacity to take this on, that’s good. Otherwise a good consultant can do this but we have to ensure that we provide guidance on what you need and what information you have prioritised to gather for this, and mostly importantly they share the findings in detail e.g. in a workshop/meeting and you are able to discuss them (as just a report will usually not be enough).

Hi Heise, thank you so much for thoughtful comment.
We have recently created an animated version of the video, and will be incorporating it into a newly updated version of this course. Feel free to share it widely with your colleagues! https://youtu.be/oNtVEUsOFSI -
