To understand the root causes of VAW and seeing the IPV is prevalent, I would like to know how best to work with couples. Additionally to address and reduce or prevent VAW by working with couples

Mostly used to discipline a child. This has influenced most parents to adopt such parenting skills and styles whereby a child is beaten as they believe that it will lead to good upbringing. It is only now that there is a shift in parenting styles due to awareness of child abuse and VAW/VAC.

First off, addressing the genesis, in Halima’s story, violence starts with the parents. Therefore, Couples programs would be beneficial in preventing VAW and VAC. Secondly. the home visit ad health worker outreach programs, this would encompass different things such as livelihood and positive parenting.

Patriarchal roles and norms that promote toxic masculinity. Additionally, cultural and religious beliefs also promote VAW and VAC. Gender inequality as well.

This is mostly used to discipline children and seen as a good way of upbringing. If a child is not beaten or scolded then the assumption is that that child will have a poor upbringing. Most parents who go by this saying, are mostly harsh and resort to physical abuse in the name of disciplining a child.
