The famous saying – if you fail to plan, you plan to fail highlights the importance of being intentional and clear in how you will achieve the desired change. Articulating our pathways which still allow for adaptation are non-negotiable and doing so in a formal structured manner can only further benefit our prevention programmes.

    Great session today!

I think one of the main issues to really put effort into is data collection. We need to prevent respondent fatigue by being deliberate and disciplined about right sizing the data as it is very tempting to collect “as much as we can.” We always need to ask ourselves if the data (while useful) will be used or not – and use that to guide the right sizing of the data.

The couples programme example from Rwanda sounds very interesting as an approach but would need to be adapted to the context by first having separate groups and encouraging intra-group discussions before mixing the groups (women and men).

Edutainment targeting youth and younger audiences would also be a great way using music, theatre and arts and crafts would be effective as prevention strategies – which could also be response but the content would be different in each case.

There are increased risks and triggers including the tense security situation across the country that further increases the kinds of violence that women could suffer including abduction.
