Hallo colleagues. I am Angeline Ndabaningi from Zimbabwe. I work for CARE as the Gender Advisor. I wish to learn more about how I can improve our gender interventions to be more transformative and promote gender equality accross all projects

To address economic challenges and lack of employment and access to income by women, women’s economic empowerment strategies would be feasible in my area, including VSLAs and capacity building of couples on living a violent free life.

also to deal with the strong gender norms that perpetuate gender inequalities, engaging men and boys and traditional leaders including religious leaders and build their capacity to support ender equality goals

Although the risk factors are almost the same, girl child education is now the talk of every organization and community structure such that it is difficult to see a girl child not going to school. This means that support factors are now strong including community support groups, school support structures, and increased awareness from the many NGOs working to promote gender equality. The triggers could be the same including harsh economic conditions escalated by COVID-19, lack of employment among youth. However, these are offset by the increased awareness on GBV

Gender inequality prevented Mercy and other women in her community to to have equal opportunities for education. They, therefore, lack knowledge of GBV policies and their rights making them succumb to violence

On the other hand, violence makes Mercy normalize and accept that men should always beat their wives. This exacerbates gender inequalities as Mercy and all the women will see themselves as inferior to men.
