Yes, the program approaches would be changed to suit the unique dynamics within families where there are other people involved ie extended families and polygamous families.
Have separate activities for men and women, some women may not be comfortable to participate in activities were there other people they know could be their relative or other family members
Have male and female activists engage people of their sex to avoid conflict
Come up with ways to mitigate backlash
Have measures in place on how to create safe learning environment

Mediation and asking or forcing partners to apologies for the acts violence doesn’t help in making relationship better. This could increase the risk of violence because the under lying factor are not dealt with, changing behavior, attitudes and beliefs takes time, the women may fear to open up about the violence in the presence of her violet partner, no follow-up support.

Blaming women for the violence and expects women to make things right in a relationship.

          The men are never wrong.

Negative norms that give men more power than women eg men are free to have multiple sexual partners, a women should never disclose issues in her relationship.

Community silence, acceptance and normalization of IPV especially VAW

I would to widen my knowledge and skills working on intimate partner violence preventive, how to be effective at programming and how to support and work with others in the field of VAW.

In the prevention-to-response continuum, I would place my prevention activity of the poster facilitation under Universal prevention. Because the activity is intended to engage community members on the root cause of violence, community silence about it and to inspire families, neighbors, and the entire community to join in preventing violence.
